A Load test is usually conducted to understand the behaviour of the system under an expected load. It’s the simplest form of Performance testing.
This load could be the expected concurrent number of users of the application, performing a specific number of transactions within a set duration. If the database and application server are also monitored, Load testing is able to point towards bottlenecks in the application software.
Stress testing is normally used to understand the upper limits of capacity within your system.
This test is conducted in order to determine your application’s robustness under an extreme load. It also helps to determine whether your application will perform adequately if the current load goes well above the expected maximum.
Absolutely nobody likes a slow-performing game or app, so Performance Testing is a crucial step in ensuring your software/game/app will bring satisfaction to your end users. Leaving an impression of quality and high performance is key.
